Who – White Oak and Harmony

What – #7 in the state in 3A White Oak plays #8 in the state in 3A Harmony

When – Friday, September 23rd

Where – Harmony, Texas

Possibly the biggest game of the regular season, White Oak travels to Harmony to play the Eagles on Friday, September 23rd. This matchup features two of the state’s top ten 3A schools, and the victor walks away with their ranking in tact, bragging rights in an increasingly meaningful rivalry.

Harmony’s offense consists of Mike Edmondson and Nick Hoelscher, two of their leading rushers.  Edmonson already has over 500 yards through four games, and Hoelscher had over 100 yards receiving 2 weeks ago against Waskom. Even though the Eagles are a primarily rushing team, junior quarterback Spencer Seahorn has proved that he can not only hit his above-average wide receivers, but be an aggressive runner as well.  Harmony’s high powered offense, however, has a tough battle this week against White Oak’s impressive defense.

White Oak’s defense has shown that they’re a forced to be reckoned with.  Through the first 4 games of the season, the Roughnecks already have 48 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.  Seven of those are from junior defensive back Elijah Trest. Trest has 37 tackles total for the season.  The last resort for the White Oak defense is the ETSN.fm and Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week, Brandon Cook.  Cook has recorded 50 tackles and 2 interceptions through 4 games.

The most important key to the Roughneck’s success this season is their high powered offense led by Junior Heath Hood.  Hood has 1000 plus passing yards and has also shown he can rush under pressure.  White Oak has scored at least 43 points in every game this year.

The Eagle’s have also proven that they have a exceptional defense as well, as 26 is the most points they’ve given up through the first four games.  In most blowouts, they were able to sit their starters and play the players that don’t get in very often.

After the game of the week for the Roughnecks and Eagles, they both have a bye next week and then start district play after that.  The Roughnecks play Hughes Springs to begin district and the Eagles open district against Edgewood.
