Undefeated in district so far, White Oak takes on their biggest competition, Beckville, at 4:30 to reclaim their district title.

Last year, Beckville took first in district and this year they stand undefeated. They have won two tournaments that White Oak has participated in including the Shirley Atkins Tournament. However, the Ladynecks have prepared all season to recover what was lost last year and take that top spot.

“I think we’ve really worked hard to prepare for Beckville,” junior Allison Patak said. “We’ve worked on ball control, hitting and blocking a lot and we’ve also watched film from when we played them at the Longview tournament.”

On Tuesday’s game against Pine Tree, libero Brooklyn Noll faced an injury in the second set and came off the court for several plays. She returned to the game later in the set but dealt with a sprained ankle. After icing yesterday, Noll will be back and ready for Beckville.

“The most difficult thing about coming off of an injury and playing is pushing through the pain for my team and giving them my 110% effort even though I’m in pain,” Noll said.

The senior Ladynecks are ready to lead their younger teammates into tomorrow’s game and on the court. Not only do they have to perform at the level a senior should, but they also have to encourage underclassmen by stepping up to a leadership role.

“My role is to lead the offense, such as the tempo of the sets and what the hitters need to hit,” senior Kyla Weeks said. “I also have to demand things from both the hitters and passers so that we play the absolute best we can.”
